Our Responsibility is a mirrored mural which interweaves the silhouettes of discarded digital objects to reflect engineering’s relationship with anthropogenic climate change. Human impacts on the atmosphere are depicted through haunting, thin and white urban forms, which spiral into layers of saturated, metallic clouds connected by floating gears.

Commissioned for the King’s College London Engineering digital maker-space, the mural uses surrealist references alongside reflections of the building’s activity and architecture to promote a greater sense of awareness and global responsibility among students. By enhancing the connectivity between cities, emissions, and design, the work suggests the profession’s entanglement in simultaneously making and unmaking global catastrophe.
