Jess Coldrey will be the inaugural artist in residence at Box Hill Institute’s Yarra Ranges Tech School (YRTS) - a leading-edge regional technology hub for robotics, sustainable agricultural technology, and human-centred design. YRTS sits at the intersection of industry, community, and education, leading over 20 schools in the Yarra Valley into the future with state of the art STEM programs.

As part of her residency, Jess will run three workshops for teenagers and young adults involving 3D scanning, surrealist collage, 3D printing and laser cutting! Her work will explore her ongoing interest in industrial technologies through unexpected sentimental narratives of robotics in domestic contexts, playing with the ideas of companionship, labour, and social determinism. These two projects will culminate in a public Art-Tech exhibition, showcasing the work of students alongside Jess’ photographic outcomes.
