Link ∞ Research Symposium showcases humanitarian research focused on providing communities in the Asia-Pacific region with the knowledge and technology they need to live a life of opportunity free from poverty. Link Research Symposium is held annually in December as part of the ‘EWB Challenge Series Showcase’ event hosted by Engineers Without Borders Australia.
This all-day event is an interactive forum to learn about and share insights into technology and design research for social change. Great speakers from research and practice will disseminate their latest findings with workshops keeping the day active and collaborative. Attendees will be a mix of students, academics and non-government workers.
This is a great opportunity to directly ask questions of speakers and have conversations around careers, culture, technology, poverty and development.
At Engineers Without Borders Australia, our purpose is to harness the potential of engineering to create an equitable reality for the planet and its people. Engineers have a responsibility to act as stewards of technology, and consider the upstream and downstream impacts to ensure that the results bring benefit before, during and after the creation of each intervention, for all. All those that came before us, who put this responsibility in our hands – now and for generations to follow. All living things and the world around us, the land, the air, the waterways and ocean. As such, engineers acting as technology stewards have a moral imperative to design, develop and implement technology with care and consideration for all.
Coldrey will be presenting her research on how humanitarian engineering skillsets translate to the Australian infrastructure sector, including insights from professionals in the water, power, transport, and built environment sectors.
